CARBON FIBER CLOTH
Specialty Activated Carbon Fiber Fabrics
Carbon fiber is preferred as it has the highest compressive strength of all reinforcing materials - composites. It has a high strength to weight ratio and low strength Carbon Fiber has the highest compressive strength of all the reinforcing materials (composites), and it has a high strength to weight ratio and low coefficient of thermal expansion. The density of carbon fiber is also much lower than the density of steel. Carbon fiber is in the form of several thousand long, thin strands of material that is composed of mostly carbon atoms.
3K, 2 x 2 Twill Weave Carbon Fiber Fabric
194 GSM, 0.30mm Thick, 3K, 2x2 Twill Weave This twill weave is most popular carbon fiber fabric, with a signature appearance that is highly desirable for modern composite parts in the auto, marine, and sporting goods industries. As compared to plain weave counterparts, the twill weave offers greater conformability and delivers a slight edge in strength.
6K, 2 x 2 Twill Weave Carbon Fiber Fabric
370 GSM,0.43mm Thick, 6K, 2x2 Twill Weave
This twill weave fabric features a tight weave and a cosmetically perfect 2x2 twill pattern. As a mid-weight carbon, it is a bit stiffer than 3K, meaning it is best used on flatter surfaces requiring less drapability. It retains the signature appearance that is highly desirable for modern composite parts in the auto, marine, and sporting goods industries. This fabric is frequently used for structural applications, offering improved economics to fabricators when compared to multiple layers of lighter fabrics.
12K, 2 x 2 Twill Weave Carbon Fiber Fabric
670 GSM,0.76mm Thick, 12K, 2x2 Twill Weave
This twill weave will add bulk to your laminate quickly. Due to its heavier weight and thickness, this fabric is slightly more difficult to form than lighter-weight carbon. While it's not generally used for small, complex shapes, it is excellent for flat parts and high strength requirements. Twill weaves offer the signature appearance that is highly desirable for modern composite parts with great conformability and strength. This fabric is frequently used for structural applications, offering improved economics to fabricators when compared to multiple layers of lighter fabrics.
3K, Plain Weave Carbon Fiber Fabric
194gm GSM, 0.30 Thick, 12.5 x 12.5 Plain Weave
For lightweight aerodynamic parts, this plain weave carbon fiber is a commonly selected fabric style, delivering uniform strength in both horizontal and vertical directions.
1K, Plain Weave Ultralight Carbon Fiber Fabric
118GSM,0.22mm Thick, 1K Plain Weave
This unique carbon fabric is used in the most demanding applications which call for maximum strength and stiffness, and where minimum weight justifies the added cost. The plain weave construction delivers uniform strength in both horizontal and vertical directions, and provides for excellent stability and easy handling. This ultralight fabric is suitable for aerospace, UAVs, competition auto and marine, and light industrial applications.
6K, 5HS Weave Carbon Fiber Fabric
370GSM,0.60Thick, 6K, 5HS Weave Construction
With twice the fiber density of 3K fabric selections, the 5-Harness Satin Weave builds quickly to form lightweight structural applications that feature virtually no flex. Its unique satin weave features carbon fibers bundled and woven repeatedly to float over four bundles, then under one. As a result, the fabric is flatter and more easily draped over the most complex shapes, especially compared to plain or satin weaves. Because of its unique satin weave, one side of the fabric will look different than the other. Fabricators will usually invert half the plies when looking to produce a symmetrical laminate.
Unidirectional Carbon Fabric (305gm)
305GSM, 0.35 Thick, 12K Standard Modulus
This unidirectional fabric is non-woven. Consequently, there is no crimping of the fibers and only minimal binder is used. Polyester fill threads on one side further reduce crimp potential. This results in the highest property unidirectional dry reinforcement available. Unidirectional fabrics add strength in only one direction. To maximize the strength of this carbon fiber, use an epoxy resin system.
Wasp - 3K, 12x18 Carbon Fiber Fabric
248GSM,0.40 Thick, 3K, 12x18
This hexagon pattern almost slithers across the fabric surface like a reptile, lending itself to a variety of interesting applications, like car hoods, water sports equipment, or even furniture. Patterned styles, like this interlocking honeycomb, not only create a unique look, but help to maximize the inherent strength properties of the carbon fibers from which they're made. Its pattern will not affect the ultimate tensile strength or stiffness. This fabric must be used with a resin. To maximize strength properties, use an epoxy.
12K, 10x10 Carbon Fiber Fabric
650GSM,0.76 Thick, 12K, 10x10
This brawny, 12K carbon fiber is a bold, hardworking version of traditional plain weave, with every thick yarn of fabric like a glossy brush stroke. Its high-contrast surface features both brilliant highlights and contrasting deep, dark shadows. Choose Grandmaster for projects that require a robust appearance, perfect for the hood of a car, a motorcycle fender, or snowboard. The 12-K, plain weave of the Grandmaster will keep it from being as conformable to complex shapes as a lighter fabric. This fabric must be used with a resin. To maximize strength properties, use an epoxy.
